Maureen Schaefer, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the Division of Human Anatomy. She primarily focuses on the teaching of Gross Anatomy in both the Colleges of Human and Osteopathic Medicine but also participates in Neuroanatomy and Histology courses. Her current interest involves the incorporation of movement into anatomy instruction. Her passion for martial arts, dance and physical well-being has led her to create a series of work-out videos designed to get students up and moving while reviewing anatomical content. Dr. Schaefer’s educational background includes an eclectic mixture of mortuary science, anthropology, and anatomy. She received her bachelor’s degree from the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science, her master’s degree from Louisiana State University, and her Ph.D. from the University of Dundee in Scotland.
